Shelter offer debt advice for residents of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council.
For advice or guidance call free on 0344 5151882 between the hours of 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Age UK has an office in Blackburn and in Darwen. They offer free and confidential advice and information service for older people, their families and carers.

The Oaks Money Advice Centre
The Oaks Money Advice Centre provides a free, confidential, face-to-face budgeting, debt and benefit advice services based within Blackburn Foodbank, open to anyone under financial strain.
We operate Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm.
The Oaks Money Advice Centre also runs Outreach appointments which are available at Care Network, Albion Mill and Darwen Health Centre. Please contact us to find out more about the outreach service.
Appointments are available face-to-face or over telephone call.

Workwell
WorkWell is a new programme that aims to help people with physical and mental health conditions to stay in work or return to work.
This is a FREE and voluntary service, and as part of the offer, participants will have access to a Work and Health Coach.
Together, you will agree next steps that will form your own personal support plan. Work and Health Coaches will consider the full range of available local support and provide signposting, tailored to individual need.
Who is WorkWell aimed at?
To be eligible, you must meet one of the following criteria and either live, work, or be registered with a GP in Blackburn with Darwen.
- Unemployed with a low-level health condition.
- Employed but currently off work with a low level health condition or concern
- Employed and in work but have reported health condition or health concern and are at risk of dropping out of the workforce.
Don’t worry if you don’t meet this criterion, we can still help you!
